Welcoming a new baby into your home is a wonderful experience. It can also be overwhelming. With today's shortened hospital stays, you may not be physically or mentally prepared to take care of your home and your family while still
recovering from the birth of your new baby.
You may also have many questions about your newborn, his/her care, and your own body as it experiences hormonal changes and begins to recover.
Often, when the new baby arrives, so do the visitors. It's difficult to welcome guests and care for the baby and yourself on so little sleep. Add with this new experience a spouse, siblings, and pets, and you may need an extra set of hands.
TLC offers two types of newborn assistance. Newborn Nannies (daytime and overnight hours) care for the newborn so parents can rest and Postpartum Doulas assist the new mother with baby care, household chores, breastfeeding assistance, sibling care and more.

TLCs overnight caregivers will see to all of your babys needs throughout the night so that you can get a good nights sleep! Most overnight caregivers work 4 to 7 nights per week. A Doula,
Greek for 'woman who helps woman' is a non-medical para-professional postpartum care provider. Our Doulas are specially trained to offer encouragement, support, and practical knowledge to new parents. This person is specially trained to give new mothers the assistance and mothering they need. Doulas will also take over those tasks that take time away from your new baby.
| Doulas help the new parents with basic baby care skills such as: |
| newborn bathing | swaddling | | circumcision care | umbilical cord care | | breastfeeding support | diaper changing | |
| Doulas help manage the household and create an environment for a restful recovery: |
| prepare meals | run errands | | tidy the house | sibling care | |
All TLC Doulas attend classes taught by a neonatal nurse specialist and a lactation expert. Additional training, based on careful research and parent interviews, addresses areas sensitive to new parents. Each Doula must pass an examination covering newborn and postpartum care.
